Special Commission

Sunday, June 23rd, 2013

These bears were created as a lasting momento of a couples special day………………their wedding.

The bears can be both be made in the groom’s tartan or one can be the groom’s and one the bride’s. The bears will whatever you want them to be. I just use my experience to create what you want. Anither option would be to make them in tweed and adorn them with something made in the tartan. The possibilities end with your imagination.

Autumn Creeping In

Sunday, September 2nd, 2012

With the weather starting to turn to Autumn my feet are starting to need something to warm them up. My feet hate being stuck inside shoes and boots for great lengths of time. They much prefer to carry on with open shoes with socks on. To this end I have been knitting socks and fingerless gloves as soon hands will need some warm garments too. Have found a great pattern that is long enough to keep fingers cosy while leaving the tips of the digits free to work and play. It also has a lacey pattern up the back of the hand which adds a touch of elegance.
I am starting to list items on Folksy again but not these yet. You can see them here

Hello to new passers by.

Monday, July 9th, 2012

I would like to say hello to anyone looking at this page because they have picked up one of my cards at a recent craft fair.
As you will see this is a blog (and not a regularly updated blog, LOL! ). I much prefer creating to paperwork and therefore you are more likely to find more regular updates on my facebook pages where I post pictures of what I am up to. You can link to these pages on the right of the page.
I am currently looking at a site called Craft Barn which looks to be an easy site for shopperes and sellers alike to use. I will update you, (here and on facebook) as to how that goes.
Today is focused around settign up the Buckie Townhouse for the Get Crafty event on Saturday. We are hoping to introduce non crafters to simple craft projects to show them everyone can do something. Come along between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. if you would like to try something. More info on the facebook page Buckie area arts and crafts group.

Elliot and Murray

Wednesday, May 30th, 2012

  Just finished.

Made in Elliot and Murray of Atholl tartans these bears are for two brothers

Just as well they seem to get on then, or, like real brothers is this just a temporary state of loving feelings?

Harris Tweed jointed bears

Friday, May 18th, 2012

This is the first bear by Knockie Bears in the gorgeous Harris Tweed fabric.

She is 13/14 inches high when standing.  Has an old fashioned hump at the top of her back and head is slightly forward. Full 5 joints at neck, arms and legs.

An afternoon tea sort of bear she is dressed in a handknitted lambswool Shetland lace pattern shawl with a rather large crecheted rose fascinator.

She was the star of the show at the Buckie Arts and Crafts fair and is now in her new home, a newky decorated girls bedroom.

I am more at home making than doing admin. I am sure all artists and crafters are the same. Full of good intentions of blogging but that bit of fabric just caught my eye and would look good as……………..
And off I go again avoiding the blogging!
For this reason there is a link on the right of this page to Knockie Bears facebook page. If you have come by here looking for what I get up to you may find that the post is at least a few weeks old. Please click on the facebook link where you might just find a short note of what I am working on now. If you become a friend of Knockie Bears you can leave a friendly comment.

Pram quilt
I had these saltire blocks left over from a cot size quilt I was working on and had laid them aside to await inspiration. When I heard of a new addition that friends had, I saw a use for the blocks. Teamed with some designer cashmere/cotton plaid fabric and the addition of a bear applique it made the perfect quilt for a pram or baby carrier. No mistaking this wee ones Nationlity.
